青梅竹马因青春期 “丑八怪” 羞辱结怨。多年后她归国被迫与他联姻换千万救命钱，此时他正抵触婚姻。她揭穿学妹真面目，却在交锋中被吸引。他发现婚前协议后爆发危机，争吵中互诉真心。危急时刻他为她挡刀重伤，生死间误会尽释，最终在契约婚姻中收获真爱。。本片依照季节交叉着串讲了三段凄美爱情故事。 《燃烧的红叶》一篇，佐和子（菅野美穗）被男友松元（西岛秀俊）背叛，承受不住打击服药自杀，不遂变为呆子，松元在结婚当日得悉后，心生愧疚逃婚，开始用一根红绳将他与佐和子系在一起浪迹天涯。《夏日的碧海》一篇，人气偶像歌手春日奈（深田恭子）于一次交通事故中毁容，痴心歌迷为了陪伴她，不惜自毁双目。《静寂的雪山》一篇，年老患病的黑帮大佬自知时日无多，心血来潮到故地重游，发现任由沧海变桑田，旧情人仍像几十年前一样每逢周六就带好盒饭在相约的时间和地点守候他。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
