Black Earth Rising is a long form thriller which, through the prism of a black Anglo-American family, examines the West’s relationship with contemporary Africa by exploring issues of justice, guilt, and self-determination.。背景設定在史前一萬一千五百年前，有一個名為瓦斑的大陸沈沒了。瓦斑人於是在地底建立了他們的都市，並開始在地底生活。 直到二十世紀，古代怪獸復活，加上宇宙人入侵地球，瓦斑人的長老就派遣主角·米沙基到地面世界，亦把變身用的火焰棒交給他。 米沙基把身份轉變成古生物及地質學研究生岬大介，並加入組織SAF，以火焰超人的真身，為保護地面世界而戰。。
